    CS 2008 SP1 issue

    Nick,

    I've just upgraded my site to CS 2008 SP1, I use the update Script.  When I Write new post in forum or blog I have this error:

    Critical Error: Data Store Unavailable

    The data store used by Community Server cannot be opened.

    Please ensure that your database is online and running and that the connection string in your connectionStrings.config file is correct.

    To configure your connection string:

    1. Open [Install Location of Community Server]\web\connectionStrings.config

    2. Within connectionStrings.config find the <connectionStrings> configuration section below:

      <connectionStrings>
            <add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="[Your connection string here]" />
      </connectionStrings>

    3. Modify the value to properly identify your database.

    For example, to connect to a database named CommunityServer on the current machine with an account csSystem and the password pa$$word12:

      connectionString = "server=.;database=CommunityServer;uid=csSystem;pwd=pa$$word12"

    Pleas help me to solve this problem, I have posted it in CS but no solution

    Wow, tht is a strange error.  Did you overwrite the files that needed overwriting, including the communityserver.config file.

    Sounds like the db is missing some permissions, I would post this over at http://dev.communityserver.com

    Thank you for your reply,

    I overwrite all files and try two method of upgrade but the same error still occurs. Now I can't write blog post because when I click on New Blog post this error happen. However I can still post new media and forum post although I see the error but the post still updated.

    I have posted this to CS.org but there no solution for the time being.

    I ask you because I think you successfully fix this error for you site.

    Thank you,

    No Idea how I fixed it. I just applied the patch like anyone else. Mind I reset the search barrel to allow my site to reindex all of my posts.

    Re: CS 2008 SP1 issue

    Thank you,

    I have used the update script and the Upgrader tool but the same error. The Last time when upgraded from CS 2007.1 to CS 2008 I had to manually updated the script because my site hosted on Shared hosting and no remote connection. I've just tried to install fresh CS 2008 SP1 then backup and restore database from the host and run the Upgrader but still have same error. So I think the cause of this error from the previous upgrade to CS 2008.

    Thank you for your help and looking forward for the Athena 2008 release.
