Hmm [^o)] aero... too heavy for browsers

    Hello

i've installed Aero SP2 on my CS and started to personnalize it

however I notice that this theme is very heavy for the browsers, in particular CSS and scripts...

I do not use personalization, Orb menu is removed, the wallpaper and the colors are identical for everyone.

Can somebody how reduce my pages in this case?

    Thank you.

Re: aero... too heavy for browsers

Question 1:  Does Athena load quicker for you?

Question 2:  Are you sure Aero is what you want.  By the sounds of it, u just want a custom skin.  If that is the case, contact me.

Athena uses alot less scripts, as well as CSS and image files.  The only thing that still takes time to load is the background image, but considering that it's a full color bg with a min res of 1024x768, it is any surprise.

With athena, I will be releasing Athena LITE, Athena and Athena Mobile, all in one easy to install installer, as well as seperate downloads.  Athena Update will not be made! So Aero update stops with Aero 2007!  Since Athena is the next theme on from aero.  Mind if you like Aero 2007 you'll prob love Athena

    thank you for answering

maybe I'll try to install Athena in the future when you release it

but I'm carrying on tests and i remark that i've a "freeze" scroll problem but just with IE, in Firefox it's fluid (cause i'm using the 'stream' variant)

do you think there is a CSS property which IE dislikes and I could change or remove ? Wink

     Nick,

I notice that the background on your site seems to load exceptionally fast.  You were kind enough to provide me with a script for my site to resize the background. Does the dimensions of the image dictate the speed at which it loads?  For example if I upload an image with larger dimensions it will load quickly for those users at the same resolution or decreased resolutions?

This is down to IE's rendering methods.  Firefox uses much better standards compliant methods, where as IE doesn't.  Firefox uses the GFX card where as IE uses the CPU more.  Which is y the scrolling freeze is experienced

The server will render the image on it's side very quickly.  The only real difference between Athena and Aero is that Aero uses a serverside processed JS file, Athena uses a static js file.  Which is why athena loads quicker
