    Aero 2007 Issue

    For some reason the aero versions I have downloaded and tested do not seem to be formatted correctly.  For example the search bar runs  together with the tab bar and the user welcome area also falls into the tab bar.  Why is this?

    Figured it out my good man thanks!  Also the search in 2007.  is there a way to turn it off completely aside from removing the code for it in the theme pages?  It makes the pages slow in loading.  I try to remove the code for the search but it seems to disable the customization button.  I am also having issues setting default colors to be displayed for people in the control panel for Aero.  I change them in the control panel but they are not changed on the site.  Signing out and clearing the cache does not work.  The update feature is also somewhat confusing.  It shows that updates are needed but nothing happens when you click on the update.

    Also... had a question.  How would one take the "Lean and Green" theme that comes by default with CS and incorporate the background resizer  as you do in Aero?  Would I be able to pick pieces such as that from Aero and apply it to other  themes?

    NO there isn't, and there never will be.  If you notice that the Aero Orb Menu doesn't load for a while.  This is nothing to do with Aero, or Live Search!!

    Both Aero and WLS are programmed to only render when the whole page has loaded.  This prevents problems in duplicating HTML, or putting HTML where it's not meant to go.

    This is a common practice.

    Due to the amount of files and urls that each CS page has to load, your browser has to wait for them to load before loading Aero + WLS.  Therefore it's another file on your site that is causing the problem.  Loading doesn't account for Background images, unless ur in IE.

    Ok that is odd, it should change and update just fine, you might want to reset your profile using the Load/Save page

    It should do, you need to check the ones you want, it'll then go off and download those updates.  Oooo just remembered a bug in that, forgot to ship it with a file to prevent it from getting out of date updates Angel.  Aero beta 2 will fix that tho.  Due out in 2 weeks time

    The windows live search function though I like it makes  this site as well as mine load slowly.   It is odd and didn't know if there was something you could do to make it faster?   I know in Aero 2.0 it also caused slight delays and  when I removed it people  commented that the pages loaded more quickly.  The pages load but there is a pause thereafter where you can't do anything... like  go to another page, etc...

    Strange that it would slow it down.  The pages prob loaded at the same speed, just that the users didn't notice it, since there's no box saying LOADING on the site.

    You can do to another page, that works fine, just that you don't get the hover effects on the menu or anything.  There should be nothing stopping you from navigating away from the page.  The A hrefs are still there, just when the page has loaded aero adds some javascript to them

    Re: Aero 2007 Issue

    Nick,

    Another question for you.  Is there a way of using the background resizer and incorporating it into the default theme ("Lean and Green") that comes with CS2007 Beta 2?   What would be the best way to go about this?  Would I have to edit Aero2007 or can I simply take the background resizer part and incorporate it somehow?  Just trying to sap some of the knowledge you have with creating these themes my good man.  Your hard work is appreciated!!!!

    Re: Aero 2007 Issue

    bg.ashx

    Right, attached is a ashx file, this is a html handler, and it produces the image.  The file in aero is blank because the processing is done in the DLL, but I've made this file for you.  Just change IMAGEPATH to the local path to the background.

    You will also need to put this into every page:

    <script type="text/javascript">
       document.documentElement.style.backgroundImage = 'url(/bg.ashx?'+(window.screen.width)+'x'+(window.screen.availHeight)+')';
       document.documentElement.style.backgroundPosition = 'top';
    </script>

    If you wanted a image gallery sort of set up, I'm afraid that's Aero only.

    You could however just edit Aero's CSS to make it look more like Lean and Green.

    Re: Aero 2007 Issue

    I am not sure which file you wanted me to edit.  I'm assuming the top one but have tried both with no luck.

    Where should the bg.ashx file reside on the site?  I currently have it in the root of the site as well as in the theme folder.

    On what files should I add the javascript?  I can't seem to get it working correctly as nothing seems to happen.

    <script type="text/javascript">
       document.documentElement.style.backgroundImage = 'url(/bg.ashx?'+(window.screen.width)+'x'+(window.screen.availHeight)+')';
       document.documentElement.style.backgroundPosition = 'top';
    </script>

    Re: Aero 2007 Issue

    Also found another  issue with Beta for CS2007.   I can't seem to reset personal settings to that of the default setting as far as the default colors in the theme configuration section of the control panel.  I hit reset in the personal settings menu and it goes to the defaults of aero not the default ones I set in the theme control panel.

    Re: Aero 2007 Issue

    It should reset to the configuration in the control panel.  If you haven't changed anything, and the <aeroconfig change="0" /> shows in the Load/Save then it wil load the defaults from the configuration file.

    It doesn't reset my good man.  If in the aero control panel I set the colors to another than the default blue, save it , then  on the site click the  drop down menu to personalize the look for  the site  it doesn't reset to the colors I set in the control panel.  Each time it goes back to the blue color.

    Also any luck on the background resizer problem?  This is the file I'm currently using with no success.

    That's odd, cause I've just tried it on my site, and the color change worked fine.  Didn't even have to reset my Aero Settings to do that.
