Coming soon to the Athena Alpha's, SVG backgrounds, which will bring animated background images to users of Firefox and Opera. Yes that's right, animated background images. I'll be demo'n a vista screensaver background, of sorts.
in other Athena news, I've written the backend, pretty much, just got the theme default's typed class to make. Then it's a bit of AJAX fixing, then some JavaScript client side scripting to get everything working.
The Beta's of Athena will NOT allow Translating, but this is a feature planned for in Athena RTM, expected in December.
Because all of the server side AJAX was moved into a pure JavaScript, with only 2 AJAX calls remaining, saving and loading of Initial Data. It makes Athena Load and Work alot quicker.
Also, a big difference between Athena and Aero, is the lack of Custom Style page, and JavaScript handlers. This cuts down on the amount of stuff being loaded. Athena also only uses 1 JavaScript file, which basically does everything
I'll be doing a screen cast on this soon
Keep an eye out on NB Development for the SVG backgrounds, they'll be appearing in Alpha 6.
