Do you remember Sky, Royale or Aero 1.0? No, well soon you will, Aero 1.0, Royale, and Sky varients will be returning in Aero 2007. As variants. Yes variants.
This means that if you wanted to, you can switch the Aero 2007 look for Aero 1.0 style, Sky style, or even royale style.
Variants are going to be expanded in Aero 2007 to not just be CSS overrides, but also CORE image overrides. This means that you can swap out the Aero 2007 menu for the Aero 1.0 one, or even royale. You can also easily set this in the Control Panel.
Although variants are hard to to make, once made they will work on any other Aero 2007 site. Seeing as I'm usually the only one doing this work, I'll make them, and put them onto Aero Updates. Making it soooo much easier to keep you Aero up-to-date for the end user.
And don't forget that in Aero 2007 RC1 (Expected in May) Aero will have a seperate theme PDA users. for Free now. It will automatically switch you to the PDA theme, and back again. The switching to PDA style will happen automatically, and I'll put an option in to STOP the auto switch back. Making Aero 2007 totally customizable.
This is a sign of the future, total user customization, total ease of use, and easy updates, all from 1 theme.
On another note, Aero Update's will soon have Community Server 2007 Beta 2 + Aero 2007 put onto it. This update contains all of the updated files you will need to run Aero 2007 + Community Server 2007 Beta 2. Two things you'll have to do, get Aero Updates to download and install that update. Once you've done that, however, that's only 1/2 of the story. You've will then have to go onto Community Server and download the web installer, and update the database manaually. Aero Updates doesn't have the features for directly manipulating the database, and proberly will never have these features.
