Dev Log Date 13.10.06 - nbdev.co.uk updated to CS 2.1 SP1 Beta 1

Yep, it's that time of year again, service packs are on there way, and so is the next version of aero, aero 2.0.

So as SP1 beta 1 will be released publicly soon, I rush to get aero 2.0 beta 1 ready to release to you guys to test.

If you haven't found out already, my site has now been migrated over to Aero 2.0.  How cool does it look?

I'm still working on the CSS and some HTML so keep that in mind.  The customize button only partially works atm, backgrounds, well you have to click '>' before it starts working properly, and there's a new feature, remote background, just to allow your visitors more options.

Under Other options will be the new feature of Aero 2.0, using past themes!! Yes in aero 2.0 you'll be able to select Aero 1.0, AeroCrystal, Sky, and Royale Blue.  Keep an eye out for that when I release 2.0 into RTM.

Also in this version of aero, will be the option to change the opacity of the main window, to allow the background to show through.  This will be a PNG feature only, which means you'll need IE7 or better to view the site properly.

Still planned for Aero 3.0 is the color wheel for choosing the color of aero. I did try and put it in this version, but I couldn't get the color wheel working, so it was removed.

You will be able to define aditional color's in this version, via the aero2.confing file, or via the new control panel.  The control panel will use AJAX, and if you have a keep eye the Control Panel is also the place where AERO works from (Javascript/Background).

As a final note: Aero 2.0 beta 1 is due this weekend, and CS 2.1 SP1 Beta 1 is due sometime this/next week.

Enjoy!

I love being able to give my community more customization choices. Thanks for improving on this project. Everything looks great ... and yes, the color wheel sounds very useful. Hopefully you will eventually get that working.
